100 Column Pagoda
36 km north of Kratie Town.
The ancient capital of Cambodia in the Chenla period and still today a site of significant Khmer cultural importance. The current temple was first built in 1806 on the site of the Royal Palace Temple.
Originally there were four Buddhist temples facing to each compass point, three of which now remain as structures. The 100 column pagoda consequently faces north, extremely unusual in Buddhist architecture.

Sambok Mountain
10 km north of Kratie Town.
At 93m, this is the highest point in the province, commanding memorable views. There are 369 steps, each one representing a prayer. It’s a very popular destination for Khmer people.
There are two peaks, each with its own spectacular temple complex, and with several formal Buddhist gardens. The steep slopes are naturally forested, there are many wild animals.

Koh Trong Island

All of the inhabited Mekong islands are home to rural communities whose lifestyles are simple, wholesome and happy. Like time stood still. They are famous for their pomelo fruits.
It’s a 14 km trip around Koh Trong, ideal for a bicycle day out. There are homestays and guesthouses for overnight visits, you can leave all your heavy luggage safely with us and take only what you need!

Kampi Rapids
20 km north of Kratie Town.
An amazing complex of outdoor restaurants built over the rapids in the dry season. Fried rice and grilled fish top the menus, at local prices, there’s plenty of cold beer. Even people who can’t swim, swim!
An overwhelming and loud experience on weekends and public holidays, only then for the most courageous and relaxed tourists, but on weekdays it’s peaceful and unchallenging.

Chhlong
30 km south of Kratie Town.
Why Chhlong? Firstly, it’s a glimpse into a fast-vanishing colonial past. Once an important port and trading post, the French developed an attractive small town on the riverside that still retains a unique but now decaying charm.
Secondly, there’s the restored period mansion, now the hotel Le Relais de Chhlong with its beautiful garden that is really worth the visit. Cambodia as it used to be!

Cham Basketmakers
15 km south of Kratie Town.
There are several Cham basket weaving villages, the largest is Chheu Teil Ploch with 4,000 inhabitants.
The baskets are woven from reed or bamboo, some natural, some dyed. Almost all of the inhabitants of these villages live from weaving, with some furniture manufacturing. There are many shops selling their attractive products.
