House Guide

Check-In

Check-in is from 13:00 to 19:00. If you’re arriving outside of these hours, please inform us in advance.

Guests arriving earlier are welcome to drop their luggage in our storeroom.

We are required to scan your passport into the FPCS (‘Foreigners Present in Cambodia System’) on arrival. We are also required to lodge your passport details with the local authority. There are regular police checks to ensure compliance, and heavy fines for default, please understand.

We require full payment of your booked stay on check-in.

Check-Out

Check-out time is 12:00. We offer flexibility whenever we can, but during the high-season months of November to March, late check-out is often not an option.

If you’ve left something behind in your room, please contact us straight away. We can normally quickly forward the item to your next location (in Cambodia only).

If you find you’ve taken a room key with you, please contact us, we’ll let you know how to send it back.

You can leave baggage with us in our storeroom after checking out, at your own risk.

Security

Rural Cambodia is very safe, you can walk anywhere, anytime, without worry, phones and cameras can be used openly (but do please ask before you photograph people). Single women don’t need to take any special precautions for their safety.

Our house doors are locked and bolted every night, the heavy shades are let down. We leave a key in the lock for anyone wishing to go outside during the night. If you do that, please be sure to re-lock and re-bolt on your return.

We bring guests’ small motorbikes and bicycles inside at night. We have secure locations in neighbouring houses for large motorbikes and vehicles. Please ask Dary.

Cleaning

We employ a full-time cleaning lady, seven days a week, she lives in the village, we know her well. Guesthouse laundry is also done in the village. These are both major contributions to the financial well-being of our neighbours.

In common with all other hotels and guesthouses we aim to minimise the negative environmental effects that washing products have, and we therefore do ask you to minimise your laundry demand.

On the other hand, we want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Please don’t hesitate to ask when you need new bed linen and towels, and whenever you would like your room to be cleaned.

Accident

Yes, it can and does happen. Be especially careful if you’re not used to driving a moto in Cambodia!

There is a private clinic in Kratie Town equipped for accidents and emergencies, and the correct treatment of animal bites, including rabies vaccine. In the event of an accident we’ll bring you there and translate Khmer/English as required. You are required to pay at once for any consultations and treatment.

In rural communities like ours, Khmer doctors and their nursing staff are very experienced in dealing with the immediate effects of things like moto accidents. You’re in good hands to get patched up here!

Guest Reviews

Reviews are good for us and for our guests, and for our prospective guests. But, they can be infuriating! If you have a problem that we can fix while you’re still here, then tell us and we’ll fix it before you leave! AC not working properly? Room not clean? Need new towels? Poor service in the restaurant? Tell us, don’t wait until you’ve left and then write a critical review, that helps no one.

And, please be fair. If, for whatever reason you didn’t enjoy your stay, then say why, don’t just mark down everything. If you didn’t like the village, you can still give us a 10 for cleanliness, if you couldn’t get a tuk-tuk one time, don’t down-score everything else. We try and we try hard to please everyone, please be nice in return!
